The test to request a review was sent to my phone. However, it's not a smartphone, so had to copy the link sent - and it didn't work. So, I'm guessing from its location that I'm reviewing the right body. It was the result of a 111 call I'd been advised by my GP surgery to make.
Once the Dr phoned me, the needed treatment plan was arranged quickly and communicated to me promptly - and the next day the arrangements made worked smoothly. I was very grateful for the prompt treatment arranged.
The following comment sounds xenophobic but isn't meant to be. The only problem was the Dr was foreign, with a strong accent that sometimes made hearing what she was saying down the phone difficult. Worse, her natural conversational parameters were different from mine. The result was we would continually talk over each other. Typically, I would pause to let her speak, heard nothing, so said something, then she would start talking. It didn't make for easy conversation or communication. I was left with the impression she thought I was difficult and ungrateful. I didn't intend that at all but I think both found the call exasperating.
I attended the Cardiac Catheter Day Care Ward today at Northwick Park Hospital and felt the need to put on record my gratitude to the staff who cared for me during my brief stay. I was somewhat tense on arrival, but from the moment I was escorted to the ward, I was made to feel at ease. The staff made every effort to interact and made you feel comfortable throughout the stay. It’s impossible to select just one person that was exceptional, but I managed to get one name, Glyness - so, to her and all of her colleagues, a big Thank You…. You are a credit to the NHS
My speech therapy helped me a lot to stay stable. She also gave me a lot of tips to use and practice daily.
Feedback on my original visit on 17th Nov 2020.
I was fitted with Mirena coil & very pleased to have access to the clinic during the pandemic. The staff were friendly, and doing a great job in difficult circumstances.
I asked the doctor before having coil fitted if the IUD caused weight gain. I was told No - the hormones are localised. However I have gained 20lb in weight in a very short period of time despite going to gym 4-6 tines weekly.
I checked the Patient Info on Mirena recently: weight gain is listed as a COMMON Adverse Event. I feel the doctor didn't take my concerns about weight gain seriously.
As a patient, only I can decide whether the benefits of having a medicine (contraceptive) outweigh the negative side effects. I already had a reliable contraceptive method, I was 46. As I trusted the doctor I didn't question the weight gain as being related to Mirena - and ended up on trying fad diets and with a binge eating condition.
Please listen to women - we want to make our own, informed decisions on what is right for us.
Finally, the Patient Info that was emailed to me before having Mirena - was actually the USA label which differs from the UK. I appreciated having it emailed but many people would not be aware that this is not the UK regulator approved info. (Patient Info for the same product differs in countries, depending on the regulator.
* Tested, waiting for results.
Great nurses.
Such a small clinic, however, I am surprised with the process from staff to finish and being able to quickly access my needs.
Having explained my condition (voegismus) the nurse, Laura, was very understanding and extremely gentle. She also explained everything in great detail.
Staff who tested me were very friendly and informative.
